How to watch the 2022 Mexico Open at Vidanta Vallarta

News

The Mexico Open at Vidanta will feature a wide array of talent from World No. 3 Jon Rahm to local favorites like WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational winner Abraham Ancer. The Greg Norman-designed Vidanta Vallarta course hosts this first-year event through 2024 and has already been extended 250 yards from its original design to get ready for what the tour pros have to offer.

The tournament is the third official PGA Tour event to be played in Mexico, joining the WGC-Mexico Championship (2017-20) and the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba (2007-present).

All told, 10 golfers from Mexico are in the field, the most of any tour event on record. Among them are active tour members Ancer and Carlos Ortiz. Isidro Benitez, Santiago De la Fuente, Roberto Diaz, Armando Favela, Manuel Inman, Jose Cristobal Islas, Alvaro Ortiz and Jose Antonio Safa each have received sponsor’s exemptions, with De la Fuente, Islas and Safa making their tour debuts. Alvaro Ortiz is the brother of Carlos and won the Mexico Open in 2021 as a PGA Tour Latinoamerica event.
