1st Tee Nerves | The Open | Open Moments

Videos
The first hole of any round of golf is an opportunity for a player to set the tone for the day ahead, providing a platform to climb up the leaderboard.

Standing at the first tee with limitless possibilities as to how things will play out is something every challenger has experienced, so it’s not surprising that sometimes nerves get the best of a player, even the very best.

From wayward drives landing in heavy rough, balls flying out of bounds and sometimes shots rolling into a tricky bunker, there are many ways that a dream start can turn into a nightmare.

First tee nerves have stuck many a golfer at The Open Championship, including Tiger Woods, Colin Montgomery and Dustin Johnson.
