Korn Ferry Tour announces new regular season finale for 2023

News

The Korn Ferry Tour is returning to New Jersey for the first time since 1997. The inaugural Magnit Championship will be played Aug. 17-20, 2023, at Metedeconk National Golf Club in Jackson Township.

As the 22nd of 26 events on the 2023 schedule, the Magnit Championship will be the last chance for Korn Ferry pros to qualify for the Korn Ferry Tour Finals. Magnit, a workforce management platform previously known as PRO Unlimited, will be the title sponsor of the event through at least 2026.

“We are thrilled to partner with Magnit to bring Korn Ferry Tour golf to the Tri-State area,” Korn Ferry Tour President Alex Baldwin said in a press release. “This market is home to incredibly passionate golf fans, and we’ve been working hard to bring a tournament back here for some time. Metedeconk National Golf Club is an outstanding facility and is reflective of the quality of golf course we strive to provide our members.”

Denny McCarthy is a two-time Korn Ferry Tour graduate and recently teamed up with Magnit to become a brand ambassador. After earning his PGA Tour card in 2017 with three Top-25 KFT finishes, McCarthy retained his card with a win in the 2018 KFT Championship to top the points list.

“I’m thrilled to see Magnit as a title sponsor on the Korn Ferry Tour for a few reasons,” McCarthy said in the release. “The Korn Ferry Tour is where I earned my PGA TOUR card back in 2017 and it’s been an amazing journey since then. Also, I teamed up with Magnit last season, so it’s great to see them support all the players.”

Metedeconk National sits atop the highest point in Monmouth County, offering sweeping views of the surrounding New Jersey Pinelands. Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Roger Rulewich routed the 27-hole facility through the pines and local marsh, creating a course that challenges a player’s ability to navigate uneven lies and elevation changes.

Originally opened in 1987, Metedeconk National has occupied a spot in Golf Digest’s Best in State almost every year since, coming in at No. 15 in New Jersey in the most recent ranking.

The third and first nines will be played in competition.
