LPGA announces Taiwan Swinging Skirts event cancelled again this year

News

“The LPGA Tour is thankful for Chairman Wang, the GAROC and the Swinging Skirts Foundation team for providing opportunities for LPGA Tour athletes since 2014 and their continued dedication for growing women’s golf in Chinese Taipei, as well as the countless fans and volunteers who have supported the event in its history,” the tour said in a news release.

Unlike the event’s cancellation announcement in 2022, which mentioned looking forward to 2023, the release does not include any plans for the future of the tournament.

The Taiwan Swinging Skirts sat third in four events in the tour’s fall southeast Asia swing between the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea and the TOTO Japan Classic in Japan. However, the end of the release implies that the tournament week won’t remain empty for long.

“More information on the LPGA Tour schedule for the week of Oct. 22, 2023, will be shared in the near future,” the release said.
