It’s a cold, wet and windy day in Rochester New York for the third round at the 2023 PGA Championship. A good day for the rain gloves and for players hoping to make a run up the leaderboard, and a bad one for those looking to flip on cruise control. That’s why they call it moving day, after all. Playing golf in conditions like this, on a difficult layout that has already claimed some of golf’s highest-profile victims, is that it’s relentless. Good shots are hard to come by, and bad luck is everywhere, and the whole round is tinged with a sense of annoyance.
Scottie Scheffler’s unflappable composure will be tested today. The 2022 Masters champion comes into the third round tied for the lead with Corey Connors, but surrounded by a stout group of chasers including Viktor Hovland, Bryson DeChambeau, and Brooks Koepka.
